Peptide Therapy / BPC-157 / Ipamorelin / CJC-1295 / Thymosin

Short chains of amino acids (peptides) that act as signalling molecules, binding to specific receptors to trigger targeted physiological effects — from growth hormone stimulation and tissue repair to immune modulation and cognitive enhancement — administered via subcutaneous injection or intranasal spray.

How it works

Peptides are highly specific signalling molecules that interact with receptor targets with less risk of off-target effects than small molecule drugs. BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound) activates growth hormone receptor 2 and VEGF signalling to promote tendon/gut healing. Growth hormone secretagogues (Ipamorelin + CJC-1295) stimulate pituitary GH release mimicking natural pulsatile release. Thymosin Beta-4 promotes tissue regeneration and anti-inflammatory signalling. Bioavailability via SQ injection is excellent for most peptides.

Reported benefits

  • Tissue repair and injury healing acceleration (BPC-157)
  • Growth hormone optimisation and anti-aging (Ipamorelin, CJC-1295)
  • Lean muscle mass improvement and fat reduction
  • Gut healing and intestinal permeability (BPC-157)
  • Cognitive function and neuroprotection (Dihexa, Selank)
  • Immune system modulation (Thymosin Alpha-1)
  • Improved sleep quality and recovery (DSIP, Epithalon)

Regulatory status

European Union· EMA
Restricted

Approved for: Approved peptide drugs (GLP-1 agonists, insulin, thymosin alpha-1 in some countries), Wellness peptide use under physician supervision varies by country

EU status varies significantly by member state. Some peptides available as medications in specific countries (Thymalin in Eastern Europe, Epithalon in Russia). Germany and France have stricter controls; less regulated in some Southern and Eastern EU countries.

United Kingdom· MHRA
Restricted

Approved for: Approved peptide drugs available on prescription

Many wellness peptides are unlicensed medicines in the UK. Some (like BPC-157) are not Schedule II-IV controlled substances but also not licensed medicines — exist in a grey area. MHRA has issued warnings about unlicensed injectable peptides purchased online. Must be prescribed by a physician in a regulated setting.

United States· FDA
Restricted

Approved for: Some peptides FDA-approved as drugs (GLP-1 agonists, semaglutide), Research peptides (BPC-157, Ipamorelin) not FDA-approved for human use, Compounding pharmacies may compound certain peptides with physician Rx

Regulatory status complex: some peptides are approved drugs (GLP-1 agonists, insulin). Wellness peptides (BPC-157, Ipamorelin, CJC-1295, PT-141) are not FDA-approved for any indication. In 2023-2024, the FDA banned BPC-157 from compounding pharmacy lists. Growth hormone secretagogues require physician prescription. Landscape changing rapidly — verify current FDA status.

Practical details

Frequency: Varies by peptide and protocol; typically 12-week cycles with breaks

Results last: Varies significantly by peptide; some effects within days (BPC-157), others build over weeks (GH secretagogues)

Contraindications:

  • Active cancer (GH-stimulating peptides contraindicated)
  • Acromegaly or gigantism history
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Diabetes (monitor blood glucose with GH secretagogues)
  • Must be sourced from reputable compounding pharmacy — unregulated research peptides carry contamination risk
