What we make of it
The cited Cochrane review (Bamford et al. ) concluded there is no convincing evidence of benefit for oral EPO or borage oil in eczema — this source contradicts the claim rather than supporting it. The UK MHRA withdrew the product license for EPO (Epogam) for eczema in 2002 on the same grounds. Underlying trials were predominantly funded by Efamol Ltd; the Cochrane reviewers identified that manufacturer-funded trials showed positive signals while independent trials did not. The symptom label 'Dry Skin' also mismatches the studied population (atopic eczema).
