A fat concentrated in brain cell walls. The idea is that topping it up helps signalling — not firmly established in people.
Dose: 100–300 mg
Tested as: Soy-derived phosphatidylserine 100-300 mg/day, and a PS-omega-3/DHA complex around 300 mg/day, for 6 weeks to 6 months

How it was tested: It did normalise the stress hormones. It made no difference to how anxious people actually felt.
Meant to blunt the cortisol response to stress — but the trial found the hormones did not move.
Dose: 200–400 mg
Tested as: Soy-based phosphatidylserine/phosphatidic acid complex (PAS) 200 mg or 400 mg/day for 42 days
