How it was tested: Promensil 80 mg/day produced a further, statistically significant 44% reduction in hot flush frequency versus placebo over 12 weeks, after both groups improved similarly during a 4-week placebo run-in.
Same phytoestrogen mechanism as soy isoflavones - weak binding to estrogen receptors that may partially offset the estrogen decline driving vasomotor instability.
Dose: 40–82 mg
Tested as: standardized red clover extracts - Promensil (82 mg/day total isoflavones) and Rimostil (57 mg/day) in the largest trial; an earlier, smaller trial used Promensil 80 mg/day.
