How it was tested: Pooled analysis of 12 RCTs (265 Alzheimer's patients, 21 with parkinsonian dementia, 90 with individual memory complaints) found no trial reported a clear clinical benefit of phosphatidylcholine/lecithin.
Phosphatidylcholine is a dietary source of choline broken down during digestion; the hypothesis was that more circulating choline would support acetylcholine synthesis and slow memory decline.
Tested as: lecithin/phosphatidylcholine supplementation, doses and durations varied across 12 pooled trials, mostly in people already diagnosed with dementia or memory complaints
