Alpha-GPC (Choline Alfoscerate) for Poor Memory

Alpha-GPC releases choline efficiently and crosses into the brain, where it's used to make acetylcholine and to rebuild neuronal cell-membrane phospholipids.

How strong is the research?

Mixed evidence

In a nationwide South Korean cohort of adults 50+, alpha-GPC use was associated with a dose-responsive 46% higher 10-year risk of total stroke (both ischemic and hemorrhagic) versus non-use. Did not measure memory outcomes; this is a safety finding, not a disproof of cognitive benefit, but it materially changes the risk side of the equation for a general-wellness memory claim.
